the animals that riders ride on utilises simple harmonic motion that allows them to move up and down vertically. the simple harmonic motion is a type of periodic motion or oscillation motion where the restoring force is directly proportional to the displacement and acts in the directions opposite to that of displacement.

the speed of the carousel remains the same as it rotates at a constant speed. however, the velocity magnitude is constant but the velocity direction is changing. acceleration is also taking place due to the changing of directions in velocity. the acceleration has a constant magnitude but varying magnitude. the velocity and acceleration is also always perpendicular.
